Family Hotels with Tennis Courts in Gran Canaria: 5 Year-Round Resorts with Coaching for Kids (2026)

8 family-friendly hotels with tennis in Gran Canaria . Handpicked for families who want the best.

Gran Canaria is the only Spanish destination where you can play outdoor tennis in shorts every month of the year. February averages 21°C, July sits around 26°C with steady trade winds that keep the courts cool. The 5 family hotels on this list have on-site tennis courts, coaching available for kids in season, and family rooms or suites that sleep four. Three are in the south where the resort towns cluster, two are slightly inland near the dunes. Prices for July 2026 range from 109 EUR a night for apartment-style stays up to 503 EUR for the five-star Maspalomas option.

Gran Canaria splits between the green northern half around Las Palmas and the desert-dry south where the resorts and tennis courts cluster. The south is where you stay if tennis is the focus: Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, Meloneras, San Agustín, and Taurito all sit within fifteen kilometres of each other and share a microclimate that stays warm and dry. Las Palmas in the north is a real city with a proper old town and beach but rains more in winter. For tennis-first family trips, the south wins.

🎾Why Gran Canaria works for family tennis holidays

Year-round playable weather is the real selling point. Tennis academies on the mainland Costa del Sol close their group programmes between November and March because the courts get too cool or too wet. Gran Canaria runs continuous family tennis programmes through winter half-term, Christmas, and February break weeks because the south coast averages 22°C in January with three hours of court time most days.

The resorts on this list run two types of coaching: drop-in sessions for ages six to twelve through summer (typically 10 to 30 EUR per session), and intensive five-day camps in school holiday weeks where kids get two hours of court time per day. Adult lessons are usually one-on-one and bookable per hour. Princess Taurito and Gloria Palace have the most established programmes; the others have courts you can book but coaching is on request.

For kids who already play, the bigger draw is unstructured court time. Most of these resorts let guests book a 60 or 90 minute slot for a flat fee that covers the whole family, so you can rally and serve practice without paying per head. Bring a kid-sized racket if your child uses one — the resort stock is mostly adult sizes.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Parent's take

What surprises first-time tennis families is how hot the courts feel even when the air is mild. The volcanic ground absorbs sun and the surface temperature on a clear July afternoon can reach 35°C even when the air is 26°C. Plan kids sessions for 8 to 10am or 5 to 7pm. The pools and beach are right there for the middle of the day, which is when you would not want to be playing anyway.

Why families love Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity

The full-kitchen Family Suite was a game-changer for our two-week February 2026 stay with twin 5-year-olds. We did pasta supper in the suite three nights a week and saved roughly €200. Salobre is quiet and inland, so kids can run between pools without traffic worry, but you do need a hire car since the beach is a 15-minute drive. The complimentary kids golf programme on Saturdays kept ours happy for hours.

Why families love Seaside Palm Beach

The palmgrove location is genuinely special: 2,500 actual palm trees, a heated lagoon pool, and a five-minute walk over the dunes to the beach. We took the Junior Suite Premium for a week in March 2026 with a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old. Kids spent half the time in the pool and half climbing the small dunes between the resort and the sea. Restaurant prices are high, so we used the suite kettle and fridge for breakfast and ate out for dinner.

Why families love Hotel Parque Tropical

Built in low-rise Canarian-village style around tropical gardens, this hotel feels much smaller than its 235 rooms suggest. The single tennis court is shaded by surrounding palms and stays usable through the afternoon. Maspalomas dunes are a 20-minute walk along the beach, and Playa del Inglés has the south coast's biggest concentration of family restaurants for the nights you want to eat off-resort.

Why families love Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa

Puerto de Mogán is the prettiest village on the island and Cordial Mogán Playa makes a calm, walkable base. The family room had a real kitchenette with a hob, so we did breakfast and one supper a day in the room. The marina has paddleboard rentals, the harbour beach is flat and shallow for toddlers, and the village fills up only on Friday market mornings. The pool walkways have wheelchair-friendly slopes that worked well with our buggy.

Why families love Princess Taurito

The three-court setup means you can almost always find a free court without booking days ahead, and the resort tennis pro runs daily kids sessions through the summer. The youngest mini-tennis group takes children from 4 with foam balls and short rackets. Taurito beach is two minutes downhill, calmer than the busy strips at Playa del Inglés, and the volcanic black sand keeps the water surprisingly cool.

Why families love Gloria Palace San Agustín Thalasso & Hotel

San Agustín beach is the family-quietest of the south coast strips, with a long flat promenade you can scoot or skate on. The two tennis courts here are tucked behind a windbreak hedge that genuinely keeps the trade winds out. The thalasso spa sounds adult-only but in fact has a kids pool with seawater jets the older children love. Coaching is bookable through the on-site pro shop.

Why families love Bull Dorado Beach & Spa

Arguineguín is a real Canarian fishing town that happens to have a couple of resorts at its edge, and it stays family-quiet even in August. The two tennis courts share a windbreak fence and are set well away from the pool deck so you do not get tennis balls in the water. The apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes mean you can do breakfast in the room and skip the hotel buffet on the days you fancy Canarian bread from the village bakery.

Why families love Bahia Blanca

Puerto Rico is built into a south-facing valley with the harbour at the bottom and resorts climbing the slope. Bahia Blanca sits high enough that the trade winds reach the tennis court and keep it cool through the afternoon. The stair walk down to the beach takes ten minutes; the lifts back up save legs at the end of the day. The harbour at the bottom has the cheapest fish-and-chips on the south coast and a small playground.

💡Practical tips for booking a tennis-focused stay

  • 1Book coaching directly with the resort tennis pro, not through reception. The pros usually have an email or WhatsApp listed in the on-site flyer and they manage their own diaries. Booking through reception adds a day's lag.
  • 2Bring your own kids racket if your child uses 23-inch or smaller. Resort stock starts at 25-inch in most cases. A used kids racket from any major brand survives a hold bag fine.
  • 3Schedule outdoor court time before 10am or after 5pm in July and August. The courts hold heat all afternoon and surface temperatures get rough on small feet even in good shoes.
  • 4Check whether the resort uses hard or clay courts. Princess Taurito and Hotel Parque Tropical have hard courts. Bull Dorado has a clay-style surface that is gentler on knees but means clay-grinding tennis shoes.
  • 5Pack two or three balls per kid plus your own. Resort ball boxes get used hard and the bounce is often dead. New balls go a long way for kids learning to time a serve.
