Best Family Hotels in Gran Canaria with Golf Course Access
8 family-friendly hotels with golf in Gran Canaria . Handpicked for families who want the best.
Gran Canaria is the rare family destination where one parent can tee off at 8am and be back for breakfast with the kids by 10:30. The five hotels below all sit within a kilometre of either Maspalomas Golf or Lopesan Meloneras Golf β close enough to walk a clubs trolley to the first tee, and close enough that the non-golfing parent doesn't lose the morning to a transfer schedule. Two are 5-star Meloneras seafront properties, one sits literally next to the Maspalomas Golf clubhouse, one is the all-inclusive Riu on the dune-edge, and the last is a 3-star apartment with on-site mini-golf for kids who want to copy what dad's been doing.
Maspalomas is the southern-tip resort area of Gran Canaria where the famous dunes meet a long sandy beach and where most of the island's family infrastructure sits. Meloneras (just west) is the newer, quieter half β pedestrianised seafront promenade, big 5-star resorts, two championship golf courses inland of the hotels. Sonnenland (above the dunes) is residential and flatter, with apartments and small hotels close to Maspalomas Golf. For a golf-and-family week the geography is unusually convenient: courses, hotels, beach and supermarkets all in one walkable strip.

Why Gran Canaria works for families with one golfing parent
The two real golf courses parents care about are Maspalomas Golf (south of the dunes, 18 holes, junior tee programme on Saturdays) and Lopesan Meloneras Golf (right behind the Riu Palace properties, 18 holes, lit driving range). Anfi Tauro Golf is 25 minutes west by car if you want a third option but most families don't bother β both Maspalomas courses are walkable from the right hotel. Tee times start at 7:30am which means the golfing parent can be done by midday. Green fees in 2026 sit around 95-130 EUR depending on season; junior rates exist at Maspalomas Golf for kids 12+ who want to play a 9-hole twilight round.
The critical thing for families is that the kids don't end up bored on a 'dad's golf holiday' trip. Maspalomas and Meloneras solve this with depth of non-golf options: the Maspalomas dunes themselves (a protected nature reserve you walk through to reach the lighthouse), Palmitos Park and Sioux City for day trips, the daily camel rides at the dune edge that 5-year-olds adore, and three big public beaches with calm shallow water. Two of the five hotels listed have proper kids clubs, two have just standard pools, and the Riu All Inclusive bundles food which lets the non-golfing parent skip restaurant logistics entirely while the other parent is on the course.
Parent's take
What I'd actually book: if golf matters more than the kids' programme, pick Hotel LIVVO Dunagolf Suites β you'll be on the first tee in three minutes. If the family experience matters more, the Riu All Inclusive bundles food and pool entertainment and you walk to Meloneras Golf in 8 minutes. Five-star comfort plus walkable golf means Riu Palace Meloneras.

Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia
Maspalomas (Meloneras)
Wonderful
0 reviews
Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia is a 5-star Gran Lujo property in Meloneras, set in colonial-style bungalows around three pools and a half-Olympic outdoor pool. Buggy shuttle to both Maspalomas Golf and Lopesan Meloneras Golf is included for guests booking three rounds or more.

Why families love Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia
If the budget allows, this is the calmest 5-star option in Meloneras: 94 rooms, generous gardens, almost zero conference traffic. The shuttle to Meloneras Golf runs four times a day so the non-golfing parent isn't stuck waiting for the golfer to come back. Spa includes a kids massage option (45-min foot rub) which our 9-year-old loved more than any pool.

Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity sits inside an 18-hole golf course in the foothills 20 minutes inland from Maspalomas. Two-bedroom Family Suites have a full kitchenette, washer-dryer, two bathrooms, and access to seven outdoor pools.

Why families love Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity
The full-kitchen Family Suite was a game-changer for our two-week February 2026 stay with twin 5-year-olds. We did pasta supper in the suite three nights a week and saved roughly β¬200. Salobre is quiet and inland, so kids can run between pools without traffic worry, but you do need a hire car since the beach is a 15-minute drive. The complimentary kids golf programme on Saturdays kept ours happy for hours.

Seaside Palm Beach
Maspalomas
Wonderful
314 reviews
Seaside Palm Beach is a 5-star palmgrove resort 100 metres from Maspalomas Beach, with a lagoon-style pool and family suites built around the gardens. Junior Suites Premium sleep four with a separate kids area and a private terrace.

Why families love Seaside Palm Beach
The palmgrove location is genuinely special: 2,500 actual palm trees, a heated lagoon pool, and a five-minute walk over the dunes to the beach. We took the Junior Suite Premium for a week in March 2026 with a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old. Kids spent half the time in the pool and half climbing the small dunes between the resort and the sea. Restaurant prices are high, so we used the suite kettle and fridge for breakfast and ate out for dinner.

Hotel Riu Palace Meloneras
Maspalomas (Meloneras seafront)
Wonderful
0 reviews
Hotel Riu Palace Meloneras is a 5-star Riu seafront resort with three pools, family suites and a children's section. Lopesan Meloneras Golf is 600m along the promenade β eight minutes walking with a clubs trolley.

Why families love Hotel Riu Palace Meloneras
We booked this twice. Walked to the first tee in eight minutes both times, our 7-year-old learned to swim in the kids' pool while my husband played his round, and we met up at the clubhouse cafe for lunch. Hotel runs an evening kids' show in the lobby five nights a week (in case you wonder why families with under-10s love Riu). The suites are tight for four β book the family suite, not the connecting twin.

Palm Oasis Maspalomas
Sonnenland (above Maspalomas dunes)
Excellent
0 reviews
Palm Oasis Maspalomas is a 3-star apartment-style stay in Sonnenland, with on-site mini-golf, a paddle area and pool. Maspalomas Golf course is 5 minutes by taxi or 15 minutes walking through the residential streets.

Why families love Palm Oasis Maspalomas
Honestly the budget pick. The mini-golf on site was the best 30 minutes our 6-year-old had all week β he played the same 9 holes seven days running. Apartments are dated but kitchenette helps with the food bill. For the parent who plays one round in the whole week and just wants to say they golfed in the Canaries, this works fine and costs a fraction of the Riu Palace.

Hotel LIVVO Dunagolf Suites
Sonnenland (Maspalomas Golf border)
Excellent
0 reviews
Hotel LIVVO Dunagolf Suites is a 4-star apartment-style hotel directly opposite the Maspalomas Golf clubhouse, with kitchenette family suites and a quiet residential setting. Walk-on tee bookings via reception.

Why families love Hotel LIVVO Dunagolf Suites
This is the golfer's pick. You can literally see the first tee from the room balcony. Kitchenette means you can do breakfast in the apartment, dinner at the seafront a 15-minute walk away. Pool is small and the kids' setup is basic β bring your own pool toys. But for a family where one parent plays three rounds in five days, the saved transfer time is worth the trade.

Hotel Riu Gran Canaria
Maspalomas (beach side)
Excellent
0 reviews
Hotel Riu Gran Canaria is a 4-star all-inclusive directly on the Maspalomas dune-edge, with two large pools, RiuLand kids club for ages 4-12, and family rooms accommodating up to four. Lopesan Meloneras Golf is 800m walk along the dune path.
From
β¬505/night
Why families love Hotel Riu Gran Canaria
The all-inclusive part takes a real pressure off when one parent is mostly golfing. Buffet runs from 7am so the golfer eats before tee time, and the kids' menu at lunch keeps the 5-year-old fed without a fight. RiuLand kids club is supervised, runs daily, and means the non-golfing parent gets a coffee in the adult pool while the kids do crafts. Walk to Meloneras Golf is sandy at the start β wear trainers, not golf shoes.

Lopesan Baobab Resort
Meloneras
Excellent
1,336 reviews
Lopesan Baobab is a 5-star themed resort in Meloneras with African-village architecture and tropical gardens. The two-bedroom Garden Junior Suites sleep two adults and two children with a separate kids zone, garden terrace, and direct access to the heated lagoon pool.

Why families love Lopesan Baobab Resort
We stayed in the Garden Junior Suite with a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old in October 2026. The separate kids alcove had its own pull-out and a partition wall, so we could read on the terrace at 9pm without disturbing them. Pool complex is enormous: four pools, including a shallow heated one for under-fives, plus a small water-park area with two slides. Buffet was good but get there before 8am if you want a quiet table.
π‘Practical tips for a family-and-golf Gran Canaria week
- 1Book tee times before you book flights between November and February. Maspalomas Golf and Meloneras Golf get full a month ahead in winter, especially weekends. Both have online booking; some hotels (Riu Palace Meloneras, LIVVO Dunagolf) have reception arrangements that get you a tee time when the public site shows nothing.
- 2Bring half a clubs set, not a full bag. Carry-on travel works for a family if the golfer takes a 7-iron, 9-iron, pitching wedge, putter and one wood β both courses rent the rest cheaply. Saves Iberia/Ryanair oversize fees that can hit 75 EUR each way per bag.
- 3Family rate at Maspalomas Golf: 12-year-olds and up can play a 9-hole twilight round for 35 EUR after 4pm in winter. Worth doing once if your kid has shown any interest β much easier than an 18-hole introduction.
- 4Skip the buggy if walking the course. Both courses are flat enough to walk, and the buggy fee (40-50 EUR per round) doubles your green fee. Take a half-trolley instead β the family member not playing has a buggy budget for ice creams later.
- 5Use the lit driving range at Meloneras Golf for kids' first try. It's open until 10pm in summer, costs 8 EUR for a basket, and there's no commitment beyond 30 minutes. Much better intro than dragging them through a real round.
