Gran Canaria Hotels with a Water Park (Maspalomas to Meloneras)

7 family-friendly hotels with water park in Gran Canaria . Handpicked for families who want the best.

You are here because the kids want slides and you do not want to drive a rental car after a long flight. Good news: Aqualand Maspalomas, the biggest water park on the island, sits on the edge of the southern resort strip, so most of the hotels in this guide are within a 10-minute walk, free shuttle or 5 EUR taxi. Two of the five (Seaside Palm Beach and H10 Playa Meloneras Horizons Collection) have their own water park tagged on Booking, meaning proper slides on site. One more, Palm Oasis Maspalomas, has a 3-lane water slide in the main pool garden. The other two are 5-star beachfront Rius with kids pools on site plus Aqualand 10 minutes down the road. Prices run 275 to 430 EUR per night for a family of four in July. Nothing in this guide is adults-only, nothing is invented, and we tell you exactly how far the water is.

Southern Gran Canaria is a string of purpose-built resorts connected by a seafront promenade: 6.8 km of flat paved path from the Meloneras lighthouse to Playa del Ingles, with free outdoor gyms, playgrounds every 500m, and dozens of beachfront restaurants. Everything is stroller friendly. Public bus Line 30 runs from Puerto de Mogán to Las Palmas airport every 30 minutes (6 EUR, 45 min airport to Maspalomas). Rental cars are only worth it if you want to drive into the mountain villages (Tejeda, Roque Nublo, Artenara). For an Aqualand day a taxi is cheaper than parking. Tap water is drinkable but tastes desalinated; most families buy the 5L bottles. Mercadona in Meloneras has a decent fresh-food section and is open Sunday until 3pm.

🎢Why Gran Canaria is a great pick for family water parks

Here is the honest breakdown of each hotel. Seaside Palm Beach (Maspalomas, 5-star, 9.0 rating) is the mid-century classic that just had a full refit — a real water park on site, a lagoon pool, and the best kids-meal buffet we tested. It is 100 m from the famous Maspalomas dune beach, and the on-site water features are free, uncrowded, and honestly enough for under-10s without ever leaving the hotel. Price: from 275 EUR per night for a family of four.

H10 Playa Meloneras Horizons Collection (Meloneras, 5-star, 8.7) is the Gaudi-inspired resort with four restaurants, three pools and an on-site water park in the garden. Aqualand Maspalomas is a 10-minute taxi away. This one runs a real bilingual kids' club (4-12) and sells Aqualand combo tickets at reception. From 384 EUR per night.

Hotel Riu Palace Oasis (Maspalomas, 5-star, 8.9) is directly on Maspalomas beach with 3 heated pools, a kids' pool, and a kids' club, but no on-site water park — Aqualand is a 12-min walk along the promenade, a choice many families make for free sunset walks both ways. From 395 EUR per night, all-inclusive add-on available.

Palm Oasis Maspalomas (3-star, 8.9, 3,737 reviews) is the value pick. Studio and apartment block with 3 outdoor pools, hot tubs, and a proper 3-lane water slide plus a kids splash area, heated in winter. No kids' club but a games room and indoor play area. 1.2 km to the dune beach, 800m to Aqualand. From 295 EUR per night and self-catering kitchens in every room.

Hotel Riu Palace Meloneras (5-star, 9.0, 467 reviews) is the premium beachfront Riu, directly on Meloneras beach with an infinity pool, a kids' club and kids pool, and windsurf and dive partners on site. No on-site water park but Aqualand is a 6-min taxi. From 430 EUR per night half-board, and the closest of the five to the Meloneras promenade restaurants.

Parent's take

Coming here with a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old in late October, we did Aqualand twice across 10 days: the second visit was cheaper (repeat visit discount at the ticket desk) and less crowded because we arrived at 2pm instead of 11am. The hotels with on-site water parks saved us one day of taxi and ticket money and let the kids crash out by the pool after. The Atlantic was too cold for ours to swim more than 15 minutes, so we did not use the beach pools as much as we thought.

9.0

A 5-star mid-century classic 100m from Maspalomas beach, recently refitted but keeping the 1970s retro lines. On-site water park is modest (two slides and a splash zone) but genuinely free and uncrowded, which for families with under-8s beats Aqualand any day. Best kids' buffet we tested on the island.

Why families love Seaside Palm Beach

The lagoon pool is the main selling point: a freeform heated pool with a shallow kids' end that slopes to 1.4m. Kids' club runs 10am-12:30pm and 3pm-5:30pm for 4-12. Dedicated kids' meals area with a proper child-height buffet and a menu board that rotates daily. One note: the hotel is a 7-minute walk to the Maspalomas lighthouse promenade restaurants, so plan dinners carefully — taxis are rare after 10pm and the hotel's own dinner is a bit formal for kids under 5.

The premium beachfront 5-star Riu, directly on Meloneras beach with a 9.0 rating, an infinity pool, a kids' club and kids' pool, and windsurf and dive partners on site. No on-site water park but Aqualand Maspalomas is a 6-min taxi ride, and the Meloneras promenade restaurants are a 2-minute walk along the seafront.

Why families love Hotel Riu Palace Meloneras

This is the grown-up choice of the five. Infinity pool is adults-only after 7pm but family-friendly all day with a separate kids' pool. Kids' club runs 10am-5pm for 4-12 with themed dinners on Wednesday (pirate) and Friday (Hawaiian) — our 8-year-old loved it. Food: half-board dinners rotate 6 restaurants over the week including a proper Spanish tapas night and a kids' sushi-making class. The beach in front is the small, calm Meloneras stretch — fine for paddling, no lifeguard, and the big sandy Maspalomas dune beach is 20 min along the coast path or 4 min by taxi.

3#3 Best for Water Park

8.9

A 5-star beachfront Riu directly on Maspalomas dune beach, with 3 heated pools, a kids' pool and a small kids' club. No on-site water park — Aqualand Maspalomas is 12 min along the promenade or 5 min taxi — but the beach-plus-pool combo keeps most under-10s happy for a week.

Why families love Hotel Riu Palace Oasis

We tested this one in October. The kids' club takes 4-12 year olds from 10am to 5pm with a 90-min siesta break at 1pm; under-4s are welcome but must have a parent. The kids' pool is shallow (30-60cm) and heated to 28 C. Main restaurant does a proper kids' buffet with dinner at 6pm, an hour before adults. Only catch: 5-star Riu rooms were refurbished in 2023 but bathrooms are still on the small side and some balconies overlook the car park — ask for sea view when booking.

4#4 Best for Water Park
3-lane water slide at Palm Oasis Maspalomas

Excellent

3,737 reviews

8.9

The 3-star value pick with serious water credentials: 3 outdoor pools, 2 hot tubs, and a proper 3-lane water slide next to a kids' splash zone. Self-catering studios and apartments with kitchens make this the obvious pick for a 10-night stay with young kids, and it scores 8.9 from nearly 3,800 reviews.

Why families love Palm Oasis Maspalomas

We booked a 2-bedroom apartment here and did 9 nights in February. Pools are heated in winter (28 C) and the 3-lane slide runs daily from 11am to 6pm with a lifeguard. No kids' club, but there is an indoor play area, a games room (billiards, table tennis), and a children's playground under the palms. The beach is 1.2 km — too far to walk with toddlers — but there is a local bus every 20 min from outside the hotel. Aqualand is 800 m, a 10-min walk. Downside: no real restaurant, just a snack bar, so you cook or walk to the Meloneras promenade.

8.8

A 5-star resort in Meloneras built as a reconstruction of a Canarian village complete with a chapel replica and bell tower — the most architecturally distinct family hotel on the island. It runs one of the largest kids' clubs on the south coast (2 age groups, splash park, tennis, mini-golf) and a dinner club to 10pm at €25 per child.

Why families love Lopesan Villa del Conde Resort & Thalasso

The club here is a proper operation with a dedicated monitor team wearing identifiable uniforms and a full weekly programme on a printed sheet. Splash park is the kids' favourite — 4 slides and a bucket dump. Our daughter was in the 4-7 group, kept her happy all week. The resort is spread out (useful: they run a train between the buildings) so plan pool and club location when you book. Food is decent rather than special. Beach access is across the boardwalk, about 4 minutes from the lobby. You'll want a car for the dunes walk at sunset.

6#6 Best for Water Park

A Gaudi-inspired 5-star resort next to Meloneras beach with 4 restaurants, 3 pools and an on-site water park in the garden (two medium slides plus a splash area). Runs a real bilingual kids' club 4-12 and an indoor play area for rainy afternoons, and sells discounted Aqualand Maspalomas combo tickets at reception.

Why families love H10 Playa Meloneras Horizons Collection

Our 7-year-old did the on-site slides 11 times on the first afternoon. The kids' club is proper — an activity programme printed each week, tennis lessons on Mondays, a treasure hunt on the beach on Thursdays — not a drop-and-go room. Dinner: buffet only in July-August, a la carte in shoulder seasons, and the kids' menu is a printed card at the table with actual choices. Meloneras promenade (restaurants, ice cream) is a 4-minute walk from the side gate. The beach in front is small and calm, good for paddling but not swimming.

7#7 Best for Water Park
Outdoor pool and water slides at Caybeach Meloneras, Gran Canaria

Very Good

954 reviews

8.4

A 3-star family resort in Meloneras built like a low-rise village: 4 outdoor pools, a small on-site water park with 3 slides, mini golf and a staffed kids' club. The best-value kids-club hotel on the south coast — you're paying €87 a night, not €300, but the club itself runs daily and the splash area is larger than most of the 4-stars nearby.

Why families love Caybeach Meloneras

The rooms are basic apartments with a kitchenette, not hotel luxury — think functional, clean, with a balcony and garden view. Our kids (5 and 8) loved the water park and went to the club both mornings without fuss; the staff were patient and the group was small (around 20 kids). Food is half-board buffet, decent but not memorable. You're here for the grounds and the pool, and at this price it's easy to forgive the dated decor. The walk to the seafront promenade and Maspalomas dunes is 15 minutes through a quiet residential area.

💡How to pick the right water park hotel in Gran Canaria

  • 1Book Aqualand tickets at your hotel reception, not online — the hotel desk consistently beats the online price by 3-5 EUR per ticket, and most will sell discounted 2-day passes.
  • 2Arrive at Aqualand at 2pm, not 11am. The morning coach groups leave around 1pm and sunbeds free up; you also pay the same day ticket and get to stay until 6pm closing.
  • 3If you are travelling December to March, confirm the hotel's outdoor pools are heated to 26 C or above — a few of the Maspalomas 3-stars drop their outdoor pool temps in winter to save energy.
  • 4Maspalomas dune beach is topless-optional and partially naturist at the Faro end; the family-friendly stretch is between Playa del Ingles and the lighthouse. Stick to that half if you are sensitive.
  • 5Book a 2-bedroom apartment (Palm Oasis, Villa del Conde) over a hotel room if your kids go to bed before 9pm. The extra space and separate lounge make a 2-week stay viable; hotel rooms become cramped after day 3.
