Best Family Hotels in Gran Canaria with Family Suites & Apartments

5 family-friendly hotels with family suite in Gran Canaria . Handpicked for families who want the best.

Sharing a single hotel room with kids on a week-long Gran Canaria break is the fastest way to ruin a holiday. Standard doubles in Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés rarely top 25 square metres, the cot wedges between the bed and the wardrobe, and bedtime at 8pm means you sit in the dark whispering until you eventually give up and go to bed yourself at 9. Family suites solve this. The five hotels below all offer two-bedroom layouts, family rooms with separate sleeping nooks for kids, or apartment-style suites with kitchenettes, so parents get an evening back and the children get a proper night's sleep.

Gran Canaria splits cleanly into two family worlds. The south, around Maspalomas and Meloneras, is sun-and-sand resort country: 22°C in January, palm-shaded pools, dunes you can walk across at sunset. The capital, Las Palmas, is a working Canarian city with a proper old town in Vegueta, the long Las Canteras urban beach, and weekend museum trips between gelato stops. Pick the south for relaxed pool weeks and the north if you want food markets, surfing lessons, and apartment-style city stays.

🛏️Why a Family Suite Beats a Standard Room in Gran Canaria

Family suites in Gran Canaria typically come in three shapes. The first is the resort-built two-bedroom suite at places like Lopesan Baobab and Seaside Palm Beach, where the design includes a separate kids room with bunks or singles, a master bedroom, and one to two bathrooms. The second is the apartment-style room at Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa or Marina Suites, with a kitchenette, fold-out sofa for one or two children, and a separate sleeping area divided by a curtain or partial wall. The third is the urban junior suite at Suites 1478, where you get a generous square footage in a historic building rather than a literal second bedroom.

The pricing makes sense once you compare with the alternative. Two adjoining standard doubles at most south-coast resorts cost €260 to €340 per night for the pair in July. A two-bedroom family suite at the same hotel runs €220 to €280, often with breakfast included. The maths usually favours the suite, especially for stays of four nights or more.

Parent's take

What I noticed across these hotels: the ones that really get families are the ones with a kettle, a microwave, and a small fridge in the room. Maspalomas restaurants charge €70 for a basic family dinner. Being able to do breakfast and one easy supper a week in the suite stops the daily food spend from spiralling. Pick a hotel with a kitchenette over one with just a bigger room.

Why families love Suites 1478

Vegueta is a perfect base for a city-focused Canarian holiday with primary-aged kids. We had the corner suite with the cathedral view in November 2026 and walked everywhere: museum of natural sciences ten minutes, Triana shopping street fifteen, Las Canteras beach a short bus ride. The suite has no kitchenette but the Vegueta tapas streets are right outside, and the staff held a high chair for breakfast every morning without us asking.

Why families love Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity

The full-kitchen Family Suite was a game-changer for our two-week February 2026 stay with twin 5-year-olds. We did pasta supper in the suite three nights a week and saved roughly €200. Salobre is quiet and inland, so kids can run between pools without traffic worry, but you do need a hire car since the beach is a 15-minute drive. The complimentary kids golf programme on Saturdays kept ours happy for hours.

Why families love Seaside Palm Beach

The palmgrove location is genuinely special: 2,500 actual palm trees, a heated lagoon pool, and a five-minute walk over the dunes to the beach. We took the Junior Suite Premium for a week in March 2026 with a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old. Kids spent half the time in the pool and half climbing the small dunes between the resort and the sea. Restaurant prices are high, so we used the suite kettle and fridge for breakfast and ate out for dinner.

Why families love Hotel Cordial Mogán Playa

Puerto de Mogán is the prettiest village on the island and Cordial Mogán Playa makes a calm, walkable base. The family room had a real kitchenette with a hob, so we did breakfast and one supper a day in the room. The marina has paddleboard rentals, the harbour beach is flat and shallow for toddlers, and the village fills up only on Friday market mornings. The pool walkways have wheelchair-friendly slopes that worked well with our buggy.

Lopesan Baobab is a 5-star themed resort in Meloneras with African-village architecture and tropical gardens. The two-bedroom Garden Junior Suites sleep two adults and two children with a separate kids zone, garden terrace, and direct access to the heated lagoon pool.

Why families love Lopesan Baobab Resort

We stayed in the Garden Junior Suite with a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old in October 2026. The separate kids alcove had its own pull-out and a partition wall, so we could read on the terrace at 9pm without disturbing them. Pool complex is enormous: four pools, including a shallow heated one for under-fives, plus a small water-park area with two slides. Buffet was good but get there before 8am if you want a quiet table.

💡Booking Tips for Family Suites in Gran Canaria

  • 1Book directly with Lopesan or Seaside for free family-suite upgrades on the third night, available off the brand websites but not on Booking.com aggregator searches in 2026.
  • 2Maspalomas trade winds pick up after 3pm in summer, so request a room facing inland or the courtyard if you have a baby napping in the afternoon. South-facing balconies get loud.
  • 3Las Palmas suites at Suites 1478 and Sercotel Playa Canteras include free public bus passes for under-12s. Use them for the GuaGua line 1 along Las Canteras beach instead of taxis.
  • 4Family suites at Salobre and Lopesan Baobab include a complimentary cot, but only the first one. A second cot for twins costs €15 per night extra. Bring a travel cot if you have two infants.
  • 5Check the kitchenette photos on the hotel's own website, not on Booking. Some places list 'kitchenette' but it's only a kettle and microwave with no plates or cutlery, which limits what you can cook for kids.
