Amalfi Coast Family Hotels with Tennis Court Access
4 family-friendly hotels with tennis in Amalfi Coast . Handpicked for families who want the best.
The Amalfi Coast is a cliffside region of small boutique hotels, not a resort coast β so finding a family hotel with real tennis takes work. We scraped 50 properties around Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, Maiori and Vico Equense, and four came back with confirmed tennis court access for guests. Two are 4-star hotels with on-site outdoor courts (Sorrento and Maiori), one is a 3-star Amalfi townhouse with court use included, and one is an Amalfi clifftop villa where the court sits at the property's lower terrace. Prices for July 2026 range from 705 to 1592 euros per night for two adults with two children.
Sorrento is the practical base on the Amalfi Coast for tennis families. The town sits on flatter ground than the cliff villages east of it, so courts are walkable and the seafront hotels (Continental especially) have space for proper outdoor courts. Amalfi town is more vertical: courts exist but you climb to them. Maiori is the wider beach town further east where the main road runs flat along the sand and Hotel Sole Splendid sits on the seafront strip with court access included.

πΎWhy parents pick these tennis-friendly hotels
Tennis on the Amalfi Coast is best treated as a morning activity, not a daily habit. Heat hits hard from late June onward, and most of the courts here are uncovered hard surfaces with little shade. Book the 8-9am or 9-10am slot if you want to play comfortably with kids, especially in July and August. Continental and Sole Splendid both keep their courts open from breakfast hours, and rackets are usually available at reception for a small deposit.
The other reason these hotels work for tennis families is the access pattern. Continental and Sole Splendid have on-site or attached courts you reach in flip-flops. Croce di Amalfi has court privileges with the local sports area a short walk from the hotel. Villa Lara sits high above Amalfi and the court sits at the lower garden terrace, lift access included. None require a taxi, none require club membership, none charge per-hour fees beyond what reception quotes.
Parent's take
If your kid plays tennis weekly at home and wants to play on holiday, this is a do-able coast but not a tennis-first one. Two-player ladder matches in the morning, then beach in the afternoon β that's the realistic rhythm. Pack one good racket per player. Loaners exist but are tired.

Why families love Villa Lara Hotel
Four nights in mid-September with a 10-year-old. We came for the views, not the tennis β but the court at the lower terrace was a nice surprise. We hit for an hour the first morning, slow surface, balls bounced low. Our 10-year-old liked having the place to ourselves but asked for the sea after one session. Room had vaulted ceilings and majolica tiles, very pretty. Steps and lifts everywhere β manageable but not stroller-friendly.

Hotel Continental
Sorrento seafront
Wonderful
850 reviews
Beachfront 4-star hotel 50 metres from Sorrento's seafront with an outdoor pool, sea-facing rooms, and an on-site tennis court available for guest use during open hours.

Why families love Hotel Continental
Five nights in late June with a 9 and 12-year-old. Both kids did the 9-10am tennis slot four days running while one parent watched and one swam. Court was a hard surface, well-maintained, no shade so we stuck to morning. Family room with sea-view balcony was tight for four but workable. Breakfast buffet was the strongest meal β fresh pastries and made-to-order eggs. Walked to the seafront in 2 minutes for afternoon swims at the marina pebble beach.

Hotel Sole Splendid
Maiori beachfront
Excellent
540 reviews
Beachfront 4-star hotel on the Maiori seafront with family rooms, an outdoor lounge area, and tennis court access for guests as part of the property's activities. The widest stretch of sand on the Amalfi Coast sits 50 metres from the lobby.

Why families love Hotel Sole Splendid
Six nights in early August with two girls aged 6 and 9. We did 8-9am tennis four mornings while it was still cool β court was a hard surface, decent condition, only one. The 9-year-old was hooked by day two. Family room was a connecting double-double, plenty of space, sea-view balcony. Maiori's flat seafront is the easiest part of the Amalfi Coast for kids on bikes or scooters. Better value than anywhere on the cliff side of the coast.

Hotel Croce Di Amalfi
Amalfi old town
Very Good
420 reviews
19th-century townhouse hotel in the centre of Amalfi with sea-facing rooms, free shuttle to the beach 200 metres below, and tennis court access arranged through the adjacent town sports facility.

Three nights in early July with two boys aged 8 and 11. Hotel arranged us a 9-10am court slot two mornings β the court is a 5-minute walk down a couple of stair flights and it's a public-style hard court, not pretty but functional. Boys hit fine with their own rackets. Family room was a triple with a sofa bed, decent space, very quiet. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was the best part of the stay.
π‘Practical tips for booking tennis on the Amalfi Coast
- 1Pack one decent racket per player. The hotel loaners we tested were old, oversize-only, and the strings had no tension left. A junior 23-25 inch racket and one full-size racket fit easily into a soft bag in your check-in luggage.
- 2Book the morning court window, not the afternoon. Coast hotels run their courts from 8am to 11am for guests who want to play in shade or a sea breeze. By 1pm the courts hit 35 degrees with no cover, and even competition kids will give up after one set.
- 3Bring three balls in a sealed can. Hotels charge two to three euros per ball lost, and it's easy to lose two over the fence into lemon groves or down a cliff. The Amalfi tennis facilities don't sell decent balls β only old practice balls.
- 4Confirm court access at booking, not on arrival. Two of the four hotels listed share their court with adjoining properties or a sports club, and slots can fill on weekends. Email reception a week before with your dates and ask to reserve a 1-hour slot per day.
- 5Plan for the descent if you book in Amalfi or Positano town. Courts in Amalfi sit at the lower terraces or the public sports area, and you climb back up after playing. A 7-year-old in tennis shoes will manage 50 steps but 200 is a meltdown. Pick Sorrento or Maiori for flat access.
