We took Villas Rubin in late June with three kids (4, 7, 10). The two-bedroom apartment was 58 sqm with kitchenette, bunk beds for the younger two, and a real bed for the 10-year-old in a curtain-divided corner. The kids ran between the apartment, the pool 30 metres away, and the pebble beach 100 metres further without us moving for four straight afternoons. The 12-minute shuttle to Rovinj town meant zero parking stress.

Grand Park is genuinely 5-star for families, which is rare. The cot was a Bonacina-style bentwood model rather than a generic travel cot, the room had a separate baby-bath kit including bath seat, and the breakfast had a baby corner with steamed apples ready by 7am. Our 13-month-old was treated as a real guest by the staff. The price is steep but you get a Forte-Village-level experience for less.

The Melegran is a six-suite boutique in a restored 18th-century stone house 90 seconds from the Rovinj harbour, with two-bedroom family suites of 45 to 55 sqm. The kids bedroom has a queen, the main bedroom has a king plus an in-room espresso machine. No pool and no breakfast on site — coffee and pastries at the partner cafe Caffe Cosmonaut 60 metres away.

Why families love The Melegran
We took the corner suite on the second floor with the harbour view, room 5. The kids bedroom fits both ours (7 and 10) on the queen with the door closed, and the main bedroom is genuinely separate with stone walls thick enough we could read past 21:30 without waking them. The 4-minute walk to the harbour Konobas was the whole point — kids could chase pigeons while we had a Malvazija and grilled sardines. The catch: no balcony, no pool, two flights of stone stairs with a 18kg toddler is a workout.
