Why Rovinj Works on Two Wheels
The southern coastal trail starts at Punta Corrente forest park (Zlatni Rt) and runs about 4 km south to Cuvi beach, with several swimming spots along the way. The whole route is paved or hard-packed gravel, kid-friendly even on small bikes. Plan a 90-minute return trip with a swimming break, longer if you stop for the lighthouse or the sea-cliff cove halfway down.
For older kids and confident cyclists, the Parenzana trail (a 123 km former railway line from Trieste to Poreč) passes through Rovinj's countryside and offers gentler gradients than road riding. Hotels can usually point you to the trailhead at Vižinada, about 25 km north, and book a one-way return shuttle. Tunnels and old viaducts give it a slight adventure feel.

The Maistra-run properties have a unified bike pool that's well-maintained and includes kids' helmets free, which sounds basic but isn't standard everywhere. The Grand Park's bikes were the newest. Grand Park is genuinely 5-star for families, which is rare. The cot was a Bonacina-style bentwood model rather than a generic travel cot, the room had a separate baby-bath kit including bath seat, and the breakfast had a baby corner with steamed apples ready by 7am. Our 13-month-old was treated as a real guest by the staff. The price is steep but you get a Forte-Village-level experience for less.
