Family Hotels in Marbella with Golf Courses

5 family-friendly hotels with golf in Marbella . Handpicked for families who want the best.

The Costa del Sol is also called the Costa del Golf, and Marbella sits at its centre with more than 70 courses within a 30-minute drive. The five hotels we picked all either have a course on the property or partner with one nearby, and crucially they all run a kids' programme that lets parents play 18 holes while children learn putting on a junior course. Two have full golf academies. Three offer kids' clinics during peak summer weeks. None charge children for joining a parent on the course for the last few holes.

Marbella runs on three beats: morning beach, mid-day siesta, evening promenade along the Paseo MarΓtimo. Golf families add a fourth: 7am tee time, back at the pool by noon, beach club at 4pm. The Costa del Sol has 320 days of sunshine which means winter golf is genuinely playable, and the courses take real teaching pros for kids learning the game.

Why Marbella works for golfing families

The first reason Marbella works for golfing families is course density. From any of these hotels you can reach 15 to 20 different courses inside 30 minutes. Marbella Club, Real Club Valderrama, Los Naranjos, La Quinta, Aloha and Las Brisas all offer junior tee times and family rounds. The hotels can book your foursome and a separate kids' clinic at the same course on the same morning, which is the logistical magic that makes golf holidays with kids actually work.

The second reason is the support infrastructure. These five hotels all have golf concierges who handle tee times, equipment rentals, junior club fittings, and kids' transport between hotel and course. Children's clubs include putting greens, wedge practice, and full junior bags sized 5-7, 8-11 and 12-14. Three hotels have on-site driving ranges, which means the rainy-day backup or the post-clinic free-play happens without a transfer.

Parent's take

What we noticed in the bookings is that golf families return to Marbella every year. The kids who started at 6 are coming back at 14 with their own handicaps. The hotels know this and treat returning juniors by name. That continuity is rare in family travel and worth paying for.

Why families love Hotel Claude Marbella

Claude works for golf families with older kids (9+) who can handle a small boutique without children's facilities on site. The hotel has just seven rooms and no kids' club, but it arranges everything externally: junior golf clinics at La Quinta, kids' Spanish classes at a local academy, and transfers to a beach club 10 minutes away. It's the option for families who want a real Marbella town experience between mornings on the course rather than a full resort bubble.

Marbella Club is the original 1954 estate that put the Costa del Sol on the family-luxury map. Pony stables, two heated pools, a kids' club called Hijos del Sol, and a 100-metre walk to a private beach. The grounds feel more like a botanical garden than a resort.

Why families love Marbella Club Hotel Β· Golf Resort & Spa

This is the place if you want the children's holiday photos to look like a 1970s film. Bungalows scattered through the gardens, hummingbirds at breakfast, and a small kids' club that takes kids 4 to 12 for half-day sessions. The pony stables are a real working facility β€” both our kids did a 30 minute pony lesson three mornings in a row.\n\nThe pools are smaller than at the bigger Marbella resorts (this is a 1950s layout, not a modern megahotel), so weekday mornings are calm but weekends fill up. Service is genuinely warm with kids β€” the staff remember their names by day two. Spa is excellent for parents. Pricier than Don Carlos, smaller scale, but a different vibe β€” softer, quieter, much more grown-up at night.

Why families love El Fuerte Marbella

What works at El Fuerte for golf families is the package: parents book a four-round green-fee package, kids automatically go to the El Fuerte junior club which runs a putting clinic three mornings a week. The hotel has a dedicated beach club next door, two pools (one designated for kids), and free Spanish lessons for children that have been running since 1989. The 5-star rating doesn't translate to stiff service. Reception remembers returning children's names from year to year.

9.1

Don Carlos sits on 20,000 square metres of beachfront gardens at Elviria, with a private beach club, three outdoor pools, and tennis courts. The Mini Carlos kids' club runs daily with separate areas for 4-7 and 8-12 year olds, and the resort feels like a small village rather than a hotel.

Why families love Don Carlos Marbella

We stayed five nights with a 5 and 9 year old. The kids' club ran from 10 to 17 with a real animation team β€” face painting, beach games, mini-disco at 18:30. Both kids asked to go back the next morning, which is the only review that matters. Pools are spread across the gardens so you can find a quiet one even in August. Buffet breakfast had a kid station with pancakes and fresh fruit. Beach is sandy with a gentle slope, lifeguards on duty.\n\nNot perfect: the resort is 12 minutes by taxi from the Old Town and there is no shuttle. We rented a car for one day and it was useful for Mijas. Rooms are large but the decor is dated 90s β€” fine for kids who don't notice, less impressive if you wanted boutique. Worth it for the kids' club quality alone.

NH Collection Marbella sits between Old Town and Puerto BanΓΊs, with shuttle service to both. Its golf programme partners with five Marbella courses and includes a kids' clinic at Real Club de Golf Las Brisas every Tuesday and Thursday in summer. Why families love NH Collection Marbella

This is the value option among the golf-family hotels here. NH Collection runs at about half the price of the 5-star beachfront resorts, and the golf programme is genuinely solid. Parents staying here typically book the Las Brisas package with junior clinics for the kids, which includes club rental and a teaching pro. The trade-off is that the beach is a 10-minute walk rather than directly out the door, but the pool here is large enough that families often skip the beach altogether.

πŸ’‘Booking tips for golfing parents

  • 1Book the kids' golf clinic at the same time as your tee time, not earlier. The hotels can sync them with the same course, and the kids see their parents on the practice green during their lesson. Separate timings mean ferrying kids in and out, which kills the morning.
  • 2Ask if junior clubs are included or rented. Most Marbella resorts include junior club rental in the kids' programme price. Some charge 25-40 euros per week. Always confirm before arrival because lugging child clubs from home is a holiday-killer.
  • 3Pack short golf socks and proper trainers, not sandals. Even kid-friendly courses require closed-toe shoes. Spikeless trainers work fine for juniors and the courses don't enforce metal spikes for under-14s.
  • 4Aim for the shoulder seasons (May, September, October) over July-August. Costa del Sol summer hits 35 degrees by 11am and kids melt on the course. April through June and September through October stay around 25 degrees, which is perfect playing weather.
  • 5Build a half-and-half day. Two hours of golf in the morning, beach club in the afternoon. Full days of golf with kids ends in tears. The hotels in this list have private beach access, so the transition is short.
