Best Lanzarote Beach Hotels for Families (2026)

10 family-friendly hotels with beach access in Lanzarote . Handpicked for families who want the best.

Lanzarote rewards families who plan around the right beach. The island has 90+ beaches but only a dozen or so suit small kids: shallow entry, no big surf, lifeguards in summer. Beachfront hotels here cluster in three resorts. Puerto del Carmen sits beside Playa Grande and Los Pocillos, both 6 km of soft sand. Playa Blanca opens onto Playa Dorada and the calm Papagayo coves. Costa Teguise has five beaches in a 2 km strip. The hotels closest to the sand fill up fastest in July and August, so you book in February or you take the second row. We picked five hotels you can walk out of and be barefoot in 90 seconds.

Each Lanzarote resort has a clear personality. Puerto del Carmen is the busiest — a 6 km strip with a pedestrian promenade, restaurants every 50 metres, and the most hotels per square kilometre on the island. Families with primary-age kids tend to land here because there's always something to do at 8 PM. Playa Blanca is quieter and newer. The town was a fishing village 30 years ago and most hotels are 4 or 5-star resorts built around landscaped pools. Costa Teguise is the windiest, which suits older kids who want to try windsurfing but means flat-sea days are less reliable. Arrecife, the capital, has the best urban beach (Playa del Reducto) and far fewer tourists.

🏖️Why Lanzarote beaches actually work for kids

The hotel-beach distance question matters more than the brochure suggests. A 'beachfront' hotel in Playa Blanca might be a 3-minute walk down a gentle path. The same word in Puerto del Carmen could mean you cross Avenida de las Playas with traffic. Always look at the satellite view before booking. The five hotels on this page all open directly onto the sand or are separated by a single landscaped path — no road crossing with a buggy.

Beach equipment costs add up. Sun loungers on Lanzarote public beaches run 4-7 EUR per day, parasols another 4-6 EUR. A family of four spending 7 days on the beach pays 100-150 EUR just for shade. Hotels with private beach areas or reserved loungers save you that money. The Riu Paraiso, the Iberostar, and the Arrecife Gran Hotel all include beach loungers in the rate. Check before you book.

Wind direction changes everything. When the trade winds pick up (most afternoons in July-August), the north-facing beaches in Costa Teguise get choppy and the parasols come down. The south-facing Playa Blanca beaches stay calm. If you're booking for late July through mid-September with under-fives, prefer Playa Blanca or the eastern Puerto del Carmen beaches.

Parent's take

We've stayed in three of the five hotels on this list across the last six summers. The thing nobody tells you: pack reef shoes. Half the 'sandy' beaches in Lanzarote have lava rock patches under the water and small kids will stand on a sea urchin sooner or later. Pharmacies on the island sell shoes for 8-12 EUR. Buy before you fly — they double in price at the airport.

Why families love Hotel Fariones

We stayed for eight nights in August and the kids club was the highlight. Our eight-year-old asked to go back after dinner on the second night — that tells you everything. Staff greeted her by name and the activity rotation was genuinely varied: pirate morning, underwater treasure hunt, dance class. The supervised kids lunch (included) let us have proper adult meals. The only downside: the family rooms near the pool get noise from the evening show, so ask for a sea-view room instead.

Why families love Hotel Lava Beach

Lava Beach felt more modern than its sister property, and our six-year-old preferred the splash pool here. Staff were patient with our Spanish-only toddler, which we'd been worried about. The main downside is the beach — it's narrow and pebbly in places, so we took the 10-minute walk to Playa Grande most days. Kids club ran 10am-12:30pm and 3pm-5pm, which suited our lunch routine better than the split elsewhere. Book the garden-view rooms for real quiet.

Why families love Hotel LIVVO Volcán Lanzarote

We loved the layout. The kids' pool sits in the middle of the resort with the family pool a 30-second walk away — easy to bounce between them. The walk to Playa Flamingo is short but uphill on the way back, which our seven-year-old whined about every single time. Buffet has a kids section with mac and cheese, fish fingers, and a soft-serve machine the kids queued for after every dinner. Rooms feel slightly tired but everything works.

Why families love Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada Resort & Spa

The age-split kids club was the best thing about this booking. Our five-year-old and nine-year-old each had their own group and came back with different stories at the end of the day. The pirate splash zone has a mini-slide and water buckets — both kids spent hours there. All-inclusive means the buffet gets samey by day four. The adult quality comes through in the à la carte restaurants (bookable with the package). Ask for a Family Suite on the garden side for shade.

Why families love Hotel Lanzarote Village

The bungalow setup is a win for families. Our three-year-old could nap while we read by the terrace and we still heard her. The kids club focus on outdoor sport suited our older boy, who came back exhausted and slept through. The pool pirate ship needs a bit of repair but held the kids' attention anyway. Breakfast buffet is solid with hot options. The beach is a five-minute walk across one road. Budget-friendly for a four-star and good value in shoulder season.

Why families love Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park

The beach access is the best on this page. The hotel sits on a low cliff with a paved walkway down to the sand — 60 seconds with a buggy, no road, no traffic. We had a family room facing the pool which was bright but loud until 10 PM during entertainment season. The Star Camp kids' club runs 10 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 6 PM, with a parent-handover desk that actually works. Pool snacks are pricey (12 EUR for a chicken nuggets plate) but the buffet covers everything.

Why families love Hotel Riu Paraiso Lanzarote - All Inclusive

All-inclusive at this volume can feel chaotic but the layout helps. Three buffet stations means short queues even when the place is full. The kids' pool has a small slide and a shallow shelf for under-threes. Beach is 90 metres of sand the hotel maintains daily — they rake it in the morning before guests come down. Free loungers are first-come, claimed by 9 AM in July. Rooms are basic and the AI drinks list is limited but there's enough for a week.

Why families love Arrecife Gran Hotel & Spa

If you want Lanzarote without the resort feel, stay here. Playa del Reducto is across a quiet promenade — 30 seconds, no road. The water is shallow and protected by a long reef. Indoor pool was useful on a windy day in October. Kids found the lift to the 17th-floor breakfast a daily highlight. The hotel is more business than family but staff handle children gently and the buffet has plenty of options. Walking out into Arrecife town in the evening is a different holiday: real shops, no British pubs.

Why families love Aequora Lanzarote Suites

The room layout is the win here. Every unit is a one-bedroom suite with a sofa bed in the living room and a small kitchenette — perfect when kids need a 7 PM bedtime and parents don't. The walk to Playa Grande is downhill and clear of traffic, but uphill on the way back will tire small legs. Pools spread across three terraces so the busy adult one and the splashy kids one stay separate. Mini-golf on-site kept our six-year-old occupied between meals. Buffet is solid but not memorable.

A five-star resort in Playa Blanca with landscaped gardens, three outdoor pools, and the Daisy Kids Club for 4-12s. Why families love H10 Rubicón Horizons Collection

The mini farm was a surprise hit. Our seven-year-old fed the tortoises every morning before club activities started. The Daisy Kids Club programme included a proper weekly schedule (printed, in English), which helped us plan excursions on the quieter days. The hotel itself is huge — walking from the family wing to breakfast took 10 minutes — so if you have a toddler in a buggy, request a room close to the main building. Pool towels are chargeable, which felt petty for the price.

💡How to pick the right beachfront hotel in Lanzarote

  • 1Book a sea-view room only if you need it. Standard rooms in these hotels are 30-40% cheaper and you spend the day at the beach, not the balcony. Save the difference for a paddle-board rental.
  • 2Check the pool heating policy. Lanzarote sea drops to 18-19°C between November and April. Hotels with heated pools (LIVVO Volcán, Iberostar Lanzarote Park) win for half-term breaks. The Riu Paraiso pools are unheated.
  • 3Avoid Wednesday changeover days at all-inclusive hotels. The buffet runs short, the pool is busy, and the kids' club has a half-day program. Sunday or Monday arrivals get you a smoother first 48 hours.
  • 4Walk to the beach barefoot if you can. Lanzarote sand reaches 50°C+ on sunny afternoons in July-August. The Playa Dorada path between the LIVVO Volcán and the sand has tile sections that burn small feet — flip-flops or aquatint shoes solve it.
  • 5Pre-book a car for at least one day. The best family beaches (Papagayo, Caleta del Mojón Blanco) are 15-25 minutes from any hotel and have no bus service. Rentals from Arrecife airport start at 25 EUR/day for a small SUV in summer.
