Hotels with Pool in Marrakech: Family Guide

30 family-friendly hotels with swimming pool in Marrakech . Handpicked for families who want the best.

Marrakech in July touches 42°C by midday and your kids will not last in the medina past 11am. The pool stops being a perk and becomes the entire afternoon plan. The catch is that not every Marrakech "pool" is what you think. Plenty of riads list a courtyard plunge that's two metres across and ankle-deep, fine for cooling feet but useless if your eight-year-old wants to actually swim. We picked five hotels where the pool is big enough to do laps or play with kids: two in the medina with proper riad pools, two in Hivernage where families can walk to dinner, and one out toward the Palmeraie with a garden pool and shaded loungers. Prices run from 93 to 207 EUR per night for a family of four in summer. For coastal alternatives, see our Agadir family beach hotels.

Marrakech with kids works in two halves: cool morning in the medina (souks, Jardin Majorelle, Bahia Palace), pool afternoon back at the hotel, then evening on Jemaa el-Fna square once the sun is down. Strollers do not work in the medina, full stop. The cobbles are rough, the alleys are crowded, and motorbikes weave through. A baby carrier is mandatory for under-3s. Petit taxis are cheap (30-60 dirhams across town) and the drivers are used to families. Bring sunhats, factor 50 sunscreen and refillable water bottles.

🏊Why a Pool Is Non-Negotiable in Marrakech with Kids

Heat that will surprise you. July and August daily highs sit at 38-42°C, dropping to 22°C overnight. The dry heat feels less brutal than coastal humidity but the sun is intense from 11am to 6pm. A pool you can park your kids in for the afternoon is the difference between a holiday and a meltdown.

Pool sizes vary wildly. Medina riad pools are typically 4-6m long, deep enough to swim a few strokes, ideal for cooling off but not for serious swimming. Hivernage and Gueliz 4-stars usually have 15-20m garden pools. The Palmeraie resorts have 25-50m pools with kids' sections. Check pool dimensions in photos before you book — Booking.com calls all of them "swimming pool".

Shade matters more than depth. The Marrakech sun will roast a child in 20 minutes if there's no overhead cover. We prioritised hotels with shaded loungers, parasols or pergolas around the pool. A pool in full sun is useless between noon and 4pm in summer.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Parent's take

Honestly, after three days of medina mornings the pool becomes the only thing your kids care about. Our advice: don't try to fight it. Plan one major sight per morning, lunch at the hotel, and three hours by the pool. Save Jemaa el-Fna for after dinner when temperatures drop and the storytellers and food stalls come alive. That rhythm saves the holiday.

A 39-pavilion resort 15 minutes from the medina with private courtyards on every pavilion, an indoor play area for kids, a heated outdoor pool, a spa, and 40 acres of olive trees and rose gardens. The hotel is 5-star and aimed at couples but quietly accepts well-supervised children, with babysitting on request, family pavilions, and an Aman-quality kids menu. Why families love Amanjena Resort

Parents who pick Amanjena are usually doing one big multi-generational trip and want the calmest resort in the city. The playground here is honestly the smallest of the five, but the gardens are huge, the staff-to-kid ratio is high, and the family pavilions are essentially small private homes with their own pools. Not a budget choice and not the loudest resort: better for families with quieter children, with a budget for fine dining at every meal, and with a plan to visit the medina only once or twice.

Why families love The Oberoi Marrakech

The Oberoi Marrakech is the highest-rated hotel on the list. The indoor pool is open to children all day, and the villa-style family rooms come with their own gated patio that contains a four-year-old very effectively. The hotel runs an excellent kids' hammam program (45 minutes, parent assists) which is a legitimate cultural experience rather than a tourist gimmick.

Why families love Dar HISANE

Dar HISANE is small and personal, which suits a calm older dog. We stayed in October 2026 with a 13-year-old greyhound. The owners genuinely liked having him there, fed him chicken offcuts at supper, and let him sleep on the cool tile by the courtyard fountain. Walks in the medina were short by choice — the alleys are tight and the dog was older. We mainly did sunrise loops around the Mouassine fountain plaza.

Why families love Almaha Marrakech Restaurant & SPA

Families pick this for the medina experience without the medina chaos: the kasbah district is quieter than the main souks and the riad has only fourteen rooms. Parents liked the hammam family slot, the rooftop terrace at sunset, and the breakfast served in the courtyard. One review note: the rooms vary in size, so ask for a junior suite if you have two kids, since some standard rooms are tight.

Why families love La Maison Arabe Hotel, Spa & Cooking Workshops

La Maison Arabe was our pick for the medina-immersion experience without sacrificing comfort. The family suite terrace was where we had our morning coffees while the kids played quietly until breakfast. The cooking class kept our 7-year-old occupied for an entire afternoon and she still talks about her tagine. The hotel's free shuttle to Jemaa el-Fnaa runs every 30 minutes which avoids the chaotic medina-edge taxi mess.

Why families love Mandarin Oriental Marrakech

We took a Mandarin pool villa to give the kids their own water and ourselves an evening drink without sharing the public pool. The kids' club programme is small and well-staffed, and the daily 50-euro fee covered our 6-year-old's entire day from 9am to 6pm including a buffet lunch in the kids' dining room. The arts-and-crafts session went deep into Berber motifs which our daughter loved.

Why families love La Sultana Marrakech

La Sultana works for medina-loving families who also want a structured cycling day. Family rooms (interconnecting) fit two adults plus two kids, the pool is heated year-round, and the front desk speaks fluent English about which medina streets to avoid with kids in tow.

Why families love Les Deux Tours

Les Deux Tours is the obvious base for families who came to Marrakech to cycle. Why families love Riad Serendip

Riad Serendip suits experienced dog travellers. We had a 12-kg shih tzu and the central courtyard with its cool floor became the daily nap spot. Why families love Longue vie Hotels

The pool is the right size for families: long enough to swim, shallow enough that a confident 6-year-old can stand at one end. Why families love Domaine Des Remparts Hotel & Spa

Families with two or three kids book this hotel for the space — the rooms are large, many have terraces overlooking the gardens, and the second pool tends to be quieter and stays open later. Why families love Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech

Parents pick Fairmont Royal Palm because the resort is so big the kids cannot get bored. The playground sits in shade, the kids club runs from 9am to 6pm with a real activities programme, and the family suite layout puts the kid bed in a separate alcove rather than right next to the parents. The trade-off is the distance to the medina, which means you commit to 15 minutes by shuttle each direction, but most families discover after day two that they want the resort more than the souks anyway.

Why families love Four Seasons Resort Marrakech

Parents pick Four Seasons for the balance of resort size and proximity to the medina. The playground is one of the better ones in town, the indoor play area saves the heat of the day, and the kids club runs in English which matters for younger kids who get nervous in French. Service is the standard Four Seasons polish: car seats arrive in your car, cribs are pre-set, kids amenities are in the room before you arrive. Why families love Selman Marrakech

Parents who want a slightly slower-paced resort than Four Seasons or Fairmont choose Selman because it is quieter, the horses are a genuine draw for kids 6 and up, and the family suite layout is among the largest in Marrakech. The kids club is smaller and quieter than the bigger competitors, the food is excellent but reservations are tight in high season, and the shuttle to the medina is paid rather than free. Why families love La Pause Ecolodge Agafay

La Pause is a one-night memory-maker, not a base. The lodge keeps adult and 24-inch wheel kid mountain bikes, helmets, gloves and water bottles. If you want quiet and space to let kids run loose, this is the pick. The pool is set in olive groves, the playground is shaded, and the restaurant does kids' portions of pasta, grilled chicken and local couscous. The trade-off is you need a taxi for everything outside the hotel — petit taxis are cheap (40-50 dirhams to Jemaa el-Fna) but you can't pop out for a snack at 9pm. The walled garden setting means kids can run around without escaping, and the in-house babysitting (200 dirhams an hour) means you can have a real dinner. The Kasbah location is calmer than the central medina — fewer scooters, fewer touts, but you're still 15 minutes on foot from Jemaa el-Fna.

Why families love Es Saadi Marrakech Resort - Palace

Es Saadi has the best on-site water complex in Marrakech for kids — three slides, a lazy river loop and a separate splash area for toddlers. The interconnecting Palace rooms work well for families and feel less hotel-corridor than typical resort layouts. Service is warm rather than formal, and the gardens are big enough that kids can run without us tracking them constantly.

Why families love YVES Marrakech

YVES is the medina pick for families who want bike days but also want to wake up inside the old city. The hotel keeps four adult bikes and two kid bikes (ages 6-10) plus helmets, all free for guests. For the Palmeraie ride the front desk arranges a taxi with bike rack at 7am and a return at 11am for around 200 dirham total. Family rooms have a real sofa bed and a separate bathroom, and the rooftop pool means a 5-minute swim before bed even after a long medina day. Half the price of the 5-star Palmeraie options for a comparable family room.

Why families love Upupa de l’Atlas

Upupa de l'Atlas is the only Marrakech option that genuinely works for big dogs. Our Bernese mountain dog ran across two hectares of irrigated grass every morning, swam in the irrigation channel during the heat of the afternoon, and slept on the tiled terrace at night. The villa style has private terraces per room, so even the family next door's poodle didn't bother him. A hire car is essential — the city is 20 minutes north.

Why families love Mövenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi Marrakech

Families who stayed here liked the size of the rooms (most are 35 sqm and many are interconnecting), the buffet that includes Moroccan and European dishes for picky eaters, and the pool with a separate shallow section for under-fives. The location is a five-minute taxi to Jemaa el-Fna and a fifteen-minute drive to Amelkis. Reviews mention the kids menu is extensive and the staff are quick with cots and high chairs.

Why families love Sofitel Marrakech Palais Impérial & Spa

Sofitel was our middle-ground choice — close to the medina but with proper resort comforts. The Family Junior Suite has a clever layout: the kids' nook feels like its own room thanks to the partition, but it shares the same air conditioning so you get even temperature throughout. Breakfast is the best of any hotel we tried in Marrakech, with fresh msemen, mint tea brewed at the table, and a kids' corner with cereals and yogurt.

Why families love Barceló Palmeraie Oasis Resort

Barceló Palmeraie is the family-suite value play. The apartment-style layout meant we had a kitchenette for late-night snacks and breakfast bottles, and the separate twin room let our 9-year-old have his own space. The aqua park was the highlight — it's genuinely big and the kids spent two full days there. The downside is the medina commute: 25 minutes by taxi each way and you have to plan around the heat.

Why families love Kennedy Hospitality Resort

Not a luxury riad — it's a 1990s resort that feels lived-in — but for under 100 EUR a night you get a 25m pool, a playground, baby gates on the kids' room balconies, and a buffet that actually has plain pasta and chicken nuggets. After three days of tagine and couscous our 5-year-old needed exactly that. The pool gets busy with French and Spanish family groups in school holidays, so come early to claim loungers.

💡Pool Tips Parents Pass to Each Other in Marrakech

  • 1Book a hotel with a real pool (not a courtyard plunge under 5m). The photos on Booking.com tell the truth — if it looks decorative, it is decorative. Look for hotels in Hivernage, Gueliz or Palmeraie if you need a proper swimming pool for kids who want to actually swim and play, not just dip their feet in.
  • 2Plan medina mornings, pool afternoons. Leave the riad by 8am, do souks and Jardin Majorelle, lunch at noon, then back to the pool by 1pm and stay until 5pm. Going out in midday heat with kids in the medina is genuinely miserable and you'll end up in the first taxi back.
  • 3Bring water shoes for the kids. Some pool surfaces are tiled and slippery when wet, especially at older riads. Cheap aqua shoes from Decathlon save tantrums when little feet hit hot tiles around 2pm. Also good for sandy feet at the public Lalla Hasna gardens fountain area.
  • 4Don't skimp on sunscreen reapplication. The pool deck reflects UV like a frying pan. Reapply factor 50 every 90 minutes for kids, even if they're under a parasol. Bring a Stick formula for faces, easier with squirming toddlers than the cream that drips into eyes.
  • 5Pack pool-friendly snacks. Hotel poolside menus in Marrakech tend to be expensive (60-120 dirhams for a sandwich). Bring a small cooler bag with fruit, crackers and water from the corner épicerie. Most hotels are fine with you eating your own snacks by the pool, just clean up.
