Sicily Family Hotels with Golf Course Access
5 family-friendly hotels with golf in Sicily . Handpicked for families who want the best.
Sicily is one of the few Mediterranean islands where you can play 18 holes in the morning and still have your kids in a saltwater pool by lunch. Most golf-friendly hotels cluster around three areas: Sciacca on the south coast (closest to the well-known Verdura championship course), Campofelice di Roccella on the north coast (near Madonie), and the southeast around Ragusa (Donnafugata Golf Club). All of them are family-tested resorts with kids clubs, animation programmes and shallow swimming pools, so the non-golfing parent has somewhere to be while you tee off.
Golf in Sicily is concentrated rather than scattered. The south coast around Sciacca is the heart of it, with Verdura's three courses running along the sea. The north coast resorts at Campofelice di Roccella are 50 minutes from Palermo airport, which makes them the easiest landing pad for British and Irish families. The southeast (Ragusa, Donnafugata) is more rural and pairs golf days with baroque town visits.

Why Sicily works for a family golf trip
Greens fees and tee times are easier here than at Iberian peninsula resorts. Verdura, Donnafugata and Sicilia Golf at Campofelice all take same-day bookings outside of August. Hotel concierges can usually book you in for the next morning, which is impossible at most Algarve clubs in summer. Several resorts also offer junior golf clinics for ages 7+, including Verdura and the MClub properties.
What surprises most golfing parents is how well the resorts handle the non-golfing half of the family. Pools have shaded toddler sections. Kids clubs run from 9am to 6pm in summer. Buffet restaurants always have pasta in plain butter for the picky eaters. None of this is a given in Spain. The Sicilian model is closer to a Caribbean all-inclusive than a country club.
Parent's take
From a parent's point of view, the win is that you can divide and conquer without anybody feeling shortchanged. One of you tees off at 8am. The kids hit the pool by 10am with the other parent. Everyone meets for lunch by 1pm. Repeat for a week and you have actually relaxed.

Vittorio Emanuele Hotel
Sciacca old town

Why families love Vittorio Emanuele Hotel
Best value of the Sciacca options if you don't need a resort pool. Big family rooms in a 19th-century building, soundproofing that actually works, and a buffet breakfast with proper Sicilian arancini. Walk out the door into the old town for evening passeggiata. Verdura tee times bookable through the front desk.

MClub Alicudi
Sciacca, South Coast
Wonderful
740 reviews
A 4-star resort set in 30 hectares of olive groves and parkland, 600m from a private sandy beach. Verdura championship golf is 15 minutes by car, and the on-site mini-golf, archery and tennis keep non-golfers busy.

Why families love MClub Alicudi
This is the resort that sold our reluctant teen on coming. Mini-golf, archery, tennis, sailing, windsurfing and a kids club running until 10pm all included. The animation team is genuinely good β not just a forced disco at 9pm. Pasta with butter is always available. Verdura tee times bookable through reception.

Hotel Aliai
Sciacca marina
Excellent
680 reviews
A 3-star family-run hotel opposite Sciacca's working fishing marina, with sea-view rooms and free private parking. Verdura Golf is 12 km away. The historic centre is reached by a 100-step panoramic stairway.

Why families love Hotel Aliai
Affordable end of the Sciacca lineup. Rooms are simple but spotless and most have sea views over the marina. Fish suppers are the highlight: half-board sends you to a partner trattoria where the catch comes off the boats outside. Climbing the 100-step stairway daily is a quiet workout that kids actually enjoy.

Grand Palladium Sicilia Resort & Spa
Campofelice di Roccella, North Coast
Excellent
1,850 reviews
A 5-star all-inclusive resort right on the north Sicilian coast, 50 km from Palermo and 15 km from Cefalu. The mini-golf course on site keeps kids occupied, and the concierge books rounds at Madonie Golf 25 minutes inland.

Why families love Grand Palladium Sicilia Resort & Spa
Three pools including a shallow toddler one with shade sails, plus an entertainment team that runs from 9am to 11pm. The all-inclusive covers the four a la carte restaurants, which matters because the buffet runs in two shifts and gets crowded in August. We used the resort to base ourselves for a week and the kids never asked to leave.

Cefalu Sea Palace
Cefalu seafront
Excellent
920 reviews
A modern 5-star perched on Cefalu's seafront promenade, 10 minutes' walk from the cathedral square. The hotel has its own private beach with free loungers, and Le Madonie Golf is a 25-minute drive inland.

Why families love Cefalu Sea Palace
The smartest pick if you want a real Sicilian town vibe rather than a generic resort. Kids loved walking out to gelaterias every evening, and the private beach has shallow water for paddling. Spa and wellness are excellent. Only downside: no kids club, so this works better for families with older children (8+) who can self-occupy.
π‘Tips for booking a Sicily golf hotel with kids
- 1Book tee times before 9am from June to August. After 10am the temperature climbs above 32C and Verdura caddies will tell you to stop drinking water and start drinking electrolytes. The kids will not notice because they are in the pool.
- 2Pick a resort that includes airport transfer in the package. Sicily's roads outside the autostrada are slow, narrow and full of scooters. Driving in with a child seat after a 6am flight is a recipe for a bad start.
- 3Verdura's junior clinic books up six weeks in advance for July and August. Email the golf desk directly when you confirm the room rather than waiting until check-in.
- 4If you have a non-golfing partner, check whether the resort spa accepts walk-ins or needs same-day booking. The MClub spas need 24h notice; Cefalu Sea Palace takes walk-ins but only off-peak.
- 5Save Friday morning for the local market in whichever town you stay in. Sciacca has a great fish market, Cefalu has a produce one near the cathedral. Kids enjoy the chaos and you escape resort food for an hour.
