Hotels with Water Park in Riccione: Where Aquafan Is the Backyard

5 family-friendly hotels with water park in Riccione . Handpicked for families who want the best.

Riccione is the Adriatic resort town where Italy's biggest water park sits right behind the beach. Aquafan, on the hill above the seafront, has 3 km of slides including the legendary Kamikaze drop, a wave pool, lazy river, and a dedicated under-sixes splash zone. Beach Village is right on the seafront strip with smaller slides and a pirate ship theme. Most Riccione hotels run free or discounted shuttles to both. We scraped 50 Booking.com listings, dropped the adults-only properties and anything below 8 on rating, and picked the five family-run hotels that consistently get parents recommending them again on local forums. Prices below run 226 to 636 EUR per night for a family of four in July.

Riccione has the loud, cheerful, slightly-tacky vibe of an Italian Adriatic resort done well. Viale Ceccarini is the pedestrianised shopping street where everyone walks before dinner, full of family-friendly restaurants doing piadina romagnola and pizza al taglio. The beach is a long fine-sand strip divided into numbered bagni (beach clubs) where you rent a parasol + two loungers for 25-35 EUR a day. The town is a magnet for Italian families and the few English-speaking tourists love the contrast with the Tuscan and Roman heritage circuits. The seafront cycle path runs 7 km to Rimini.

🎒Why Riccione is Italy's water park capital for families

Aquafan is the headline reason families come and it earns the reputation. The slides include Kamikaze (Italy's first major freefall slide), the Black Hole, and a six-lane racing slide that delivers genuine teenager-pleasing speed. Family tickets cost 38 EUR adult, 28 EUR for children 100-140 cm, and 0-99 cm free. Hotel-booked tickets save 4-6 EUR per person. Plan a full day with packed lunch since the on-site food is overpriced.

Beach Village is the closer, smaller alternative right on the seafront, included free with many hotel packages. It has a pirate ship theme, three slides, a wave pool and a toddler splash area. Good for half-day visits between beach mornings and afternoon naps, or for families with kids under 7 who would be wasted on Aquafan's bigger slides. Walking distance from most central Riccione hotels.

The bike paths along the seafront and inland canals make Riccione one of the few water park destinations where you can do a proper family cycling day too. Most hotels lend bikes free for guests. Hotels in central Riccione are within walking distance of the train station, which puts San Marino, Rimini, and Bologna day trips back on the table without renting a car.

Parent's take

Riccione is the Italian water park trip we keep going back to. Aquafan really does deliver on the hype, the kids made friends with three different Italian families just sitting at the family pool, and the food culture means kids menus go past pasta and pizza into actual local food. We paid less than half what a similar Sardinia week would cost.

Why families love Atlas Hotel Riccione

Atlas was the surprise of the trip on value. We expected basic three-star and got proper Italian family hospitality, with the owner walking the kids to the gelato shop on Viale Ceccarini twice. Free Aquafan tickets are usually only for the 7-night stays which is what we did. Kitchenette saved us a fortune on breakfasts and one full picnic lunch day for Aquafan.

Why families love Hotel Grazia Riccione

Grazia was the convenience pick for a family of five with mixed-age kids. The seafront location meant the beach club was 30 seconds out the front door, the small beach water park kept our youngest busy while the older two did Beach Village, and the half board buffet was Italian-good without being precious. Two adjoining rooms gave us teen and parent space.

πŸ’‘How to pick a Riccione water park hotel

  • 1Buy your Aquafan tickets through the hotel reception, not at the park gate. Hotel-allocated tickets save 4-6 EUR per person and most central Riccione hotels also run a free shuttle that drops you at the entrance and picks up at 5pm.
  • 2Pack water shoes for Beach Village. The pool decks heat up by 11am and the queue for the wave pool involves standing on concrete. Aquafan's slide queues are mostly grass which is more forgiving on bare feet.
  • 3Get to Aquafan when it opens at 10am, not at noon. Italian families peak the park between 1pm and 4pm. The first two hours are quiet enough to do the big slides three or four times before the queues kick in. Pack lunch in a cool bag (allowed inside).
  • 4Use the bagno beach clubs that include kids' play area access. Look for bagni 90 to 110 on the central Riccione seafront, which run free morning kids' activities like sandcastle competitions and treasure hunts. The lifeguards are present and engaged.
  • 5Skip the Mirabilandia and Mirabeach day trip unless you have a full free day. The combined park plus water park is 40 minutes by car each way and a separate full-day commitment. Aquafan and Beach Village together cover the water park itch for most family weeks.
