Family Hotels on Lake Como with Spa and Wellness
12 family-friendly hotels with spa & wellness in Lake Como . Handpicked for families who want the best.
Lake Como spa hotels for families fall into two categories: the lakeshore villa hotels in Bellagio and Lenno with hammam and massage suites, and the smaller mountain or town hotels with simpler sauna-and-jacuzzi wellness areas at half the price. Our five picks span both ends. The lake's geography means most family hotels sit 20-50 minutes apart by ferry, so you build the trip around two or three bases rather than one. Average summer water is 22-24 Β°C, which is swimmable for kids but the hotel pool stays the daily dip. Spa booking takes 24 hours via reception and runs 60-90 EUR for a 50-minute massage, with kids' pools open 9am to 8pm at the wellness-equipped properties.
Lake Como is shaped like an upside-down Y with three arms β Como in the southwest, Lecco in the southeast, and the long northern arm running up to Colico. Bellagio sits at the junction and has the postcard charm with cobbled lanes and silk shops. The western shore (Cernobbio, Lenno, Tremezzo, Menaggio) holds the historic villa hotels and the famous gardens of Villa Carlotta. The eastern shore (Lecco, Varenna, Bellano) is quieter, less touristic and friendlier on the wallet. Ferries link all the towns from 7am to 11pm in summer.
π§Why Lake Como works for spa families
The first reason Lake Como works for spa families is the off-resort wellness. The five hotels in our list keep their spas at the size families want β a sauna, a hammam, a small pool and treatment rooms β without the destination-spa markup. A 50-minute massage costs 60-80 EUR, a hammam ritual 90 EUR, and most properties give kids access to the pool with a parent until 8pm. Compare that to Garda or Tuscan spa resorts where the same treatment runs 130-160 EUR.
The second reason is the lake itself as a built-in kids' activity. Most spa breaks include 1-2 spa sessions across a 4-5 day stay and the rest of the time is for ferry hops, gardens at Villa Carlotta and Villa Melzi, and the swimming-pontoons at Lido di Bellagio or Lido di Lenno. The funicular up to Brunate from Como gives a 15-minute alpine view trip that kids love. Hotels rent paddle boats and kayaks at the dock for under 10 EUR an hour.
Parent's take
The Lake Como spa-family booking pattern is heavily summer (June-August) plus a smaller October half-term spike. Most families come for 4-5 nights and spend two of them on lake excursions, two pool-days, and one for spa rituals. The villa hotels in Bellagio and Lenno are weekend booked; the smaller properties have midweek availability even in July. Repeat customers come for autumn when the lake is empty and the spa pricing drops 20-30 percent.

Palazzo San Gottardo Lake Como, a Radisson Collection Hotel
Como Centro Storico
Wonderful
0 reviews
A 5-star Radisson Collection property in a restored Renaissance palazzo two blocks from the Como cathedral and a 4-minute walk from the ferry pier. The hotel keeps a stock of wooden cots, highchairs, bottle warmers, and even a baby-bath insert for the in-room tubs. The pool is quiet and small, which suits parents who'd rather avoid a busy resort scene.

Why families love Palazzo San Gottardo Lake Como, a Radisson Collection Hotel
We arrived with a 5-month-old and the front desk had a cot waiting in the room without us having to chase. Breakfast was a relief: a quiet corner table with a real wooden highchair and a dedicated waiter who warmed our bottle. The walls are thick (it's a 16th-century palazzo) so other guests didn't hear us at 3am. The location couldn't be better for pram walks: cathedral square, lakefront, and Piazza Cavour are all under 5 minutes away.

Hotel Du Lac & SPA
Bellagio
Wonderful
1,176 reviews
Hotel Du Lac & SPA sits in the heart of Bellagio overlooking the main square and ferry dock, with family rooms, lake-view balconies and a spa with sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and treatment rooms. Family-run since 1953, the hotel offers half-board with kids' menu and direct walk-out access to the Bellagio promenade and Lido swimming pontoon.

Why families love Hotel Du Lac & SPA
Four nights in late June with two kids aged 7 and 10. The family room had a separate kids' room and a balcony over the dock β the 7-year-old watched ferries arrive every 30 minutes, which beat any TV. We booked one spa session each (90 EUR for hammam ritual) on day 2, and the kids used the small pool while we were inside. The location meant 30-second walks to the bakery, the Lido and the ferry. Most expensive of our picks but Bellagio location justifies it.

Hotel Villa Flori
Lakefront, north of Como
Wonderful
0 reviews
A 4-star lakefront hotel in a 19th-century villa, with a private terrace over the water and ferry stop steps from the entrance. Villa Flori provides cots, highchairs, and a baby menu on request, plus a small lakefront garden where prams can roll easily. Quieter than the city-centre options, with an own-pier and direct boat access to Bellagio.

Why families love Hotel Villa Flori
If you want lake views without sacrificing baby practicality, this is the spot. The terrace breakfast over the water was easily our 8-month-old's favourite hour of the day. The garden has a small lawn perfect for tummy time, and the staff brought out portable highchairs without us asking. The bus into Como takes 8 minutes and stops right outside, or you can walk the 20-minute lakefront path. The pool is shared with adults and stays quiet.

Palazzo Venezia
Como Centro
Wonderful
0 reviews
A 5-star boutique hotel in a restored merchant palazzo, with 22 rooms arranged around a central courtyard. Family-suite rooms have a separate sitting area where a cot fits without crowding the bed. The kitchen prepares plain pasta and steamed vegetables for babies on request, and the spa has a small thermal pool that's calm and warm.
From

Why families love Palazzo Venezia
We needed a hotel where a baby and grandparents could share a suite, and Palazzo Venezia delivered: the family-suite layout has a small living room that turned into a baby-zone for daytime crawling. Staff were genuinely warm with our 11-month-old: the chef came out to confirm what she could eat, and the housekeeper brought a baby bath for her evening wash. Everything inside walks distance: cathedral 3 min, ferry 5 min, supermarket 4 min.

Relais & Spa Castello di Casiglio
Erba, 15 min drive from Como
Wonderful
376 reviews
A converted medieval castle set in 7 hectares of parkland, with a large outdoor pool, kids' playground, and forest walks. Erba is inland from the lake β you're 15 minutes by car from the water β but that's reflected in the price. Sleeping in a castle is a hit with kids aged 6-12.
From
β¬389/night
Why families love Relais & Spa Castello di Casiglio
The castle thing is real β kids get properly excited about turrets and stone walls. The grounds are huge, the pool has grass around it rather than tiles, and there's enough space for small kids to run without hitting things. You're not on the lake though, which catches some families out. We drove to Como and Bellagio for day trips, which worked fine, but if you want to swim in the lake every day this isn't the place. Best for multi-generation trips where grandparents want quiet and kids want adventure.

Hotel Promessi Sposi
Malgrate
Wonderful
1,598 reviews
A 4-star hotel in Malgrate, directly across the lake from Lecco, with family rooms sleeping four and a terrace facing the flat southern lakefront. The only hotel on our list with a real swim-from-shore beach directly opposite.
From
β¬319/night
Why families love Hotel Promessi Sposi
Malgrate is the unglamorous pick that actually works with kids. The hotel's rooms are modern, family configurations include a double plus two singles in a real separate alcove, and the terrace pool overlooks a pebble beach that kids can walk to in two minutes. Lecco train station is a short taxi across the bridge for day trips to Bergamo or Milan. A4 highway exit is 10 minutes away, so driving in from the airport is simpler than in the tourist-heavy upper lake towns.

Hotel Resort Le Vele
Domaso
Excellent
788 reviews
A 3-star resort-style hotel in Domaso at the top of the lake, with family apartments sleeping four to six, a kid-friendly outdoor pool, and a sandy beach directly in front. The windsurf and sailing schools of Domaso are 200m away.
From
$239/night
Why families love Hotel Resort Le Vele
Le Vele is the one hotel on this list that functions as a family resort rather than a hotel. Apartments have separate bedrooms, a kitchenette, and a small living room, which works brilliantly for stays of 4+ nights. The pool is shallow on one side and the beach is flat sand, rare for the lake. Domaso is 90 minutes from the A4 Milan-Venice highway so it's a commit to get here, but families who make the drive end up staying longer. The cheapest per-night rate on our list by a wide margin.

Hotel Lenno
Lenno
Excellent
1,615 reviews
Hotel Lenno is a 4-star lakeshore hotel in the village of Lenno on the western shore, 10 minutes from the famous Villa del Balbianello and 25 minutes from Bellagio by ferry. Family rooms, a lakeside garden with sun loungers, on-site water sports including kayak rental, and a wellness centre with sauna, jacuzzi and treatment rooms.
From
β¬1029/night
Why families love Hotel Lenno
Four nights in mid-August with two kids aged 8 and 11. Lenno is an underrated village β quieter than Bellagio, walking distance to the boat that drops you at Villa del Balbianello. We rented kayaks for two mornings (8 EUR an hour) and the kids paddled the shoreline while we read. The spa was modest but the 70-minute massage at 75 EUR was excellent. The dinner terrace by the lake was the daily evening highlight.

Hilton Lake Como
Como city, 5 min walk from funicular
Excellent
1,672 reviews
The rooftop pool is the selling point here β 8th floor with 360Β° views of Como city and the lake. Rooms are standard Hilton quality, predictable, which is exactly what some families want. The location is 10 minutes walk from the train station and the funicular to Brunate, which makes car-free trips easy.
From
β¬544/night
Why families love Hilton Lake Como
Hilton is the play-it-safe option on Lake Como and there's no shame in that. Kids get a proper pool (25m, heated), parents get a bar with a view, and everyone gets rooms where the air conditioning actually works. The downside is it feels like a city hotel with a lake nearby rather than a lake hotel β you don't wake up to views of water. Best for families doing one or two nights as part of a northern Italy trip rather than a week of lake holiday.

Hotel Lumin
Cremia
Excellent
667 reviews
Hotel Lumin is on the northern shore of Lake Como at Cremia, with a private beach pontoon, family rooms with balcony, and a small wellness area including hydromassage shower and sauna. The hotel restaurant has lakeside dining and a children's menu. Ferry to Bellagio takes 50 minutes; Como city is 60 minutes by car along the western lake road.

Why families love Hotel Lumin
Three nights in early September with two kids aged 5 and 8. Cremia is far from the Bellagio crowds and that was the appeal β the beach pontoon was 20 metres from the hotel and the kids learned to swim in the lake there. The spa was small but the hydromassage was a hit with the 8-year-old. Drove to Menaggio one day for the ferry to Bellagio. Cheapest of our 5 picks and felt like the most relaxed setting for under-10s.

Hotel Risi
Colico
Excellent
1,650 reviews
Hotel Risi sits on the northern shore of Lake Como at Colico, with family rooms, a small spa with sauna and treatment area, and free parking 200 m from the village centre. The 19th-century building has lake views from upper rooms, and the airport shuttle from Bergamo runs on request. The northern arm is quieter, less touristic and 50 minutes from Bellagio by ferry.
From
β¬789/night
Why families love Hotel Risi
Four nights in late August with two kids aged 7 and 9. Colico is the quiet end of Lake Como β fewer day-trippers, easier parking, more local restaurants. We did one spa session at 60 EUR and the kids used the lake beach 200 m away most afternoons. The 19th-century building has character and the lake-view balcony was the best feature. Drove to Varenna one day for the ferry to Bellagio. Strong value for families who want quiet over the postcard scenery.

Park Hotel Abbadia
Abbadia Lariana
Very Good
2,719 reviews
Park Hotel Abbadia is on the eastern shore of Lake Como at Abbadia Lariana, 15 minutes from Lecco by car or train. Family rooms, an outdoor pool overlooking the lake, free parking, and lake-view garden seating. The wellness area has sauna, jacuzzi and a small treatment room. Ferry to Bellagio takes 25 minutes from the Abbadia dock.

Why families love Park Hotel Abbadia
Five nights in July with three kids aged 4, 7 and 9. The eastern shore felt much quieter than Bellagio across the lake β we walked to the village playground after dinner and never queued for a table. The pool overlooked the water and the kids spent most days between the pool and the lake jetty. We did one spa session at 65 EUR β small but pleasant. Best price-to-quality of our picks for families.
π‘Tips for booking a Lake Como spa-family stay
- 1Pick your shore based on what you want. Western shore (Lenno, Tremezzo, Menaggio, Bellagio) for villa-and-garden walking days. Eastern shore (Lecco, Varenna, Bellano) for cheaper rooms, quieter towns, and faster trains from Milan. The car-ferry between Cadenabbia and Varenna runs every 30 minutes if you want to switch shores mid-trip.
- 2Pre-book spa slots before you arrive. The villa hotels (Du Lac Bellagio, Promessi Sposi Malgrate) fill up Friday and Saturday evenings two weeks ahead in summer. Email the hotel concierge with your check-in date plus a list of preferred slots and they'll lock them in. Cancellation up to 24 hours is free at all five.
- 3Take the train from Milan rather than driving. Como, Varenna and Lecco all have direct trains from Milano Centrale that take 35-65 minutes. The lake roads narrow to one lane in spots and parking at the lakeshore villas costs 20-30 EUR a day. Most hotels offer free shuttle from the train station.
- 4Buy a Navigazione Lago Como day pass for the ferries. The 1-day pass costs around 20 EUR and covers all the slow ferries plus the hydrofoil (small extra). Kids under 4 free, ages 4-12 half price. The ferries are how you do Bellagio-Varenna-Tremezzo in a day without driving.
- 5Time the Villa Carlotta and Villa del Balbianello visits for first-thing morning or after 4pm. The big tourist boats from Como dump 100+ visitors at midday. The villas open 9:30 and close 6pm in summer, with the gardens accessible until sunset at Carlotta.
