Best Athens Hotels with Indoor Pools for Families (2026)

5 family-friendly hotels with indoor pool in Athens . Handpicked for families who want the best.

Athens outdoor pools close from November to April. Even in summer, a 38°C afternoon can make a shaded, temperature-controlled indoor pool more appealing than a sun-blasted rooftop. The catch: indoor pools in Athens exist almost exclusively in 5-star hotels, priced from 397 to 2235 EUR/night for a family of four. This is a premium niche, no way around it. If you want a budget pool experience, check our outdoor pool hotels in Athens instead. But if you're visiting off-season, want guaranteed swim access regardless of weather, or simply prefer the spa-hotel experience, these 5 hotels deliver real indoor pools with proper family access, not repurposed spa tubs marketed as pools. We scraped Booking.com in April 2026 for the actual prices below.

Athens with kids splits into two zones. The historic centre (Syntagma, Plaka, Monastiraki) puts you within walking distance of the Acropolis, the National Garden playground, and metro access everywhere for 1.20 EUR per ticket. Strollers work on the pedestrianised Dionysiou Areopagitou promenade but struggle on Plaka's cobblestones. The Athens Riviera (Vouliagmeni, Glyfada, 30 min south by tram) offers beach and pool combined, with real resort space for kids to run. DaVinci Gelato in Kolonaki is worth the detour. For supervised kids activities while you explore, see our kids club hotels in Athens.

🏊Why indoor pools matter in Athens, even in summer

Indoor pools in Athens serve two very different trip types. For off-season visitors (October to April), they are the only swim option. Every outdoor pool in central Athens drains in November and refills in May. If you are visiting for Easter, a half-term break, or a pre-island-hopping city stopover, indoor pools are not a luxury, they are a necessity. The hotels below keep their pools heated to 28-30°C year-round, no weather dependency.

In summer, indoor pools become a midday refuge. Athens hits 38-40°C in July and August, and outdoor rooftop pools can feel like bathwater by 2pm. The indoor pool at the Grande Bretagne stays at a constant 28°C with saltwater filtration. NYX Esperia's pool is deliberately shallow, making it safer for younger kids. The Electra Metropolis adds hydro-massage jets that my 8-year-old treated as a water park ride.

The honest downside: you are paying 5-star prices. There is no 3-star Athens hotel with an indoor pool. If budget matters more than year-round swimming, the outdoor pool hotels in Athens start at 117 EUR/night. For coastal pools with beach access nearby, check beach hotels in Athens. The indoor pool premium buys you controlled temperature, no sun exposure risk for young skin, and pools that never close for rain or wind.

Parent's take

We visited Athens in early November, and every rooftop pool we had bookmarked was drained and covered. The Grande Bretagne indoor pool saved the trip. My 5-year-old spent two hours in the saltwater pool while we watched from the steam room glass wall. On our next trip in July, we used the NYX Esperia indoor pool as a 2pm escape from the heat, then walked to the Acropolis at 5pm when temperatures dropped. Both times, the indoor pool was the smartest booking decision we made.

Why families love Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens

This is where you go when the hotel IS the holiday. We spent four days here and the kids never asked to leave. The kids club runs structured activities from 10am to 5pm, leaving us free to use the indoor pool and spa in peace. The private beach has shallow water and lifeguards. Breakfast has a dedicated kids corner with pancakes made to order. At 2235 EUR a night we felt every euro, but the kids club, beach, pool, and playground together make it less expensive than booking each separately in central Athens.

Why families love Hotel Grande Bretagne, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens

The indoor pool surprised us. Saltwater feels softer than chlorine, and my kids' eyes were fine after an hour of diving practice. The 65 sqm space means you never feel crowded. One parent can use the steam room while the other watches the kids through the glass wall. The rooftop outdoor pool is small but the Acropolis view is extraordinary. Room rates are steep, but the breakfast buffet (included in some rates) is the best we have had in Greece.

3#3 Best for Indoor Pool

Why families love Electra Metropolis

The indoor pool is mid-sized but never felt crowded during our November visit. Water temperature was perfect at around 29°C. My 8-year-old loved the hydro-massage jets along the wall. The hammam is adults-only (16+), but the pool area has loungers where one parent can relax while the other supervises. Breakfast on the rooftop was the highlight: direct Acropolis view, omelette station, and a pastry selection that kept the kids quiet for 45 minutes.

The Margi is a boutique 5-star in Vouliagmeni with an indoor spa pool, steam room, sauna, and three treatment rooms. Unlike the central Athens options, The Margi sits in a garden setting 200 metres from Vouliagmeni beach. The indoor pool is part of the Elixir Spa and heated to 29°C year-round.

Why families love The Margi

Vouliagmeni is a different Athens. The Margi feels like a countryside boutique hotel rather than a city property. The indoor pool is smaller than the Grande Bretagne, but the spa surroundings are calmer and less formal. After swimming, we walked 5 minutes to Vouliagmeni Lake, a geothermal spring where the water sits at 25°C even in winter. Our kids called it the warm sea. The tram to central Athens takes 45 minutes, so we did the Acropolis as a day trip.

5#5 Best for Indoor Pool
Facade of NYX Esperia Palace Hotel in central Athens
1/5

The NYX Esperia has a shallow indoor heated pool in the basement wellness centre, open year-round. The pool depth tops out at 1.2m, making it one of the safest indoor options in Athens for kids under 8. The spa area includes a sauna, steam room, and relaxation lounge.

Why families love NYX Esperia Palace Hotel Athens by Leonardo Hotels

We booked NYX mainly for the price, expecting a basic pool. The indoor pool is genuinely nice: warm, clean, and shallow enough that our 5-year-old could stand. Staff set out towels without being asked. The rooftop bar has a separate terrace with Acropolis views. Location on Stadiou Avenue means Syntagma metro is a 3-minute walk. Our family room had enough space for the travel cot.

💡How to choose a family hotel with an indoor pool in Athens

  • 1Book the NYX Esperia if you want the most affordable indoor pool in central Athens. At 397 EUR/night for a family of four, it is roughly half the price of the Grande Bretagne, and the shallow indoor pool is safer for kids under 6. Location on Stadiou Avenue puts you 3 minutes walk from Syntagma Square.
  • 2The Grande Bretagne indoor pool uses saltwater with hydro-jet massage, which is gentler on kids' skin than chlorine. It is 65 square metres, the largest indoor pool in central Athens. Pool hours are typically 7am to 9pm, but confirm at check-in as spa bookings can restrict access.
  • 3If you are visiting October to April and want beach too, pick The Margi in Vouliagmeni. It combines an indoor spa pool with a short walk to Vouliagmeni beach. The neighbourhood also has the thermal Vouliagmeni Lake (8 EUR entry, 25°C year-round, safe for kids).
  • 4The Four Seasons Astir Palace is worth it only if you are staying 3+ nights and plan to use the kids club, private beach, and multiple pools. For a single-night Athens stopover before the islands, the NYX Esperia or Grande Bretagne give you better value per swim.
  • 5All five hotels have spa facilities bundled with the indoor pool, but spa access for under-16s varies. At Electra Metropolis, kids can use the pool but not the hammam or steam room. Check the minimum age policy at check-in so your kids are not turned away at the door.
