Pet-Friendly Family Hotels in Paris (Real Pet Policies, Tested)

5 family-friendly hotels with pet friendly in Paris . Handpicked for families who want the best.

Travelling to Paris with kids is one thing. Travelling to Paris with kids and a dog is another, and most hotel listings still treat dogs as an afterthought. We checked the actual policy text, the family room availability, and the neighbourhood walks for every hotel below. Three of these five accept pets free of charge, all five allow dogs without size restrictions, and four offer family rooms or apartments large enough for a dog crate plus a travel cot. None of them are tucked behind tram lines or perched on a six-lane road, so kids and the dog can both make it from the lobby to a park in under ten minutes.

Paris with a dog is a different city. Suddenly you notice every patisserie that lets you sit outside, every bakery with a water bowl by the step, every bouquiniste whose stall blocks the kerb just enough that the kids stop to look. The Marais, Canal Saint-Martin, and the Butte Montmartre all feel made for strollers and short leashes. Even the Métro is dog-friendly if you carry a small one in a bag. Bring a folding water bowl and you'll be fine.

🐕Why these Paris hotels actually welcome your dog

Family rooms with pets are rarer in Paris than they should be. Most boutiques have a 16 square metre standard double, which is fine for two adults but cramped with a child plus a labrador. The hotels below all offer rooms above 22 square metres or apartments with separate living space, which is the practical floor for a family with a dog. Two of them have full kitchens, useful when your kids want pasta at 9pm and the dog needs feeding off a tile floor.

Pet fees in Paris range from free to 60 euros per night. Bvlgari, Shangri-La, and a few others charge nothing extra; most boutique hotels charge between 20 and 40 euros. We've flagged the free ones below. We've also flagged the ones that ask you to call ahead, because some smaller properties cap pet rooms to one or two per floor and you'll want to confirm at booking, not at check-in. Most front desks also ask for proof of vaccination on arrival, so pack a printed vaccination record.

Parent's take

Honestly, the deciding factor for our family was the street outside the hotel. A 9.5-rated room means nothing if the only dog walk is along boulevard Haussmann at rush hour. Three of our picks sit on quiet residential streets in the 16th, 18th, and 4th, which means the morning walk before breakfast is calm enough that kids can hold the lead.

Why families love Goralska Résidences Paris Bastille

Apartments are why this place works for a family with a dog. We had a one-bedroom with kitchen and the dog could lie on the cool kitchen tiles while we ate dinner with the kids on the sofa. Bassin de l'Arsenal has a long flat path along the canal, perfect for a slow morning walk with kids on scooters and a dog. Bastille market on Thursdays and Sundays is dog-friendly outside, the kids picked their own croissants from three different stalls.

Why families love Hôtel L'Ormaie & Spa

The free pet policy was the closer for us. Most Paris 4-star hotels charge 25 to 40 euros a night for a dog, and over a 4-night stay that adds up. Front desk handed us a small bowl and a folded fleece for the dog on arrival. Our 6-year-old loved that the spa had a kids' soak time on Saturday morning, and the walk to the Eiffel Tower took about 8 minutes with the dog in tow. Family room was 26 square metres with a separate cot space.

Why families love Hôtel Keppler

Trocadéro gardens are 6 minutes on foot, and that's where you want to be at sunrise with kids and a dog. The Eiffel Tower view comes free, the gravel paths are wide enough that the dog can run off-lead in the early hour before the crowds, and there's a swing set on the avenue Albert de Mun side. Our 9-year-old asked to come back every morning. The family room had a small velvet day bed the dog adopted as her own.

Why families love Terrass" Hotel

Montmartre is one of the rare central neighbourhoods where you can walk a dog without dodging buses every thirty seconds. The hotel staff handed our kids a folded map of the Butte with three suggested loops and a tip about the dog-friendly bakery on rue des Abbesses. The family room had genuine separation between sleeping zones, which mattered when the dog wanted to sleep on the cool tile floor by the window. Kids loved the terrace breakfast more than anything else in Paris.

Why families love Le Robinet d'Or Paris Canal Saint Martin

Canal Saint-Martin on a Sunday morning is a Parisian family ritual: locks turning, dogs splashing in the shallows, kids on scooters, parents drinking coffee from paper cups outside the bakeries. The hotel sits one street back from this scene which is exactly where you want to be. Family room was 20 square metres, snug but workable, and the dog had a quiet corner under the desk. Front desk speaks English fluently and warned us about the bike lane crossing the towpath.

💡Travelling to Paris with kids and a dog: what we'd plan first

  • 1Pack a printed vaccination record. Most Paris hotel front desks now ask to see one on arrival, especially for stays over three nights, and the boutique hotels in our list all noted this in their fine print.
  • 2Confirm pet acceptance in writing before your trip. Booking platforms display a generic pet icon, but actual room availability for dogs is usually limited to two or three rooms per property and they sell out fast in summer.
  • 3Avoid the inner Métro lines with a dog at rush hour. Lines 1 and 4 between 8am and 9am are wall to wall, and even a small dog gets nervous. Walk or use Lines 7 and 8 which run through the parks.
  • 4Buy a 5 pack of folding poop bags at any Monoprix in the city. Paris fines for not picking up are 68 euros, the cleaning crews are vigilant in the central arrondissements, and your hotel concierge will not have spares.
  • 5Plan the morning walk around a real park, not just a pavement loop. Buttes-Chaumont, Parc Monceau, and the Champ de Mars all open at sunrise and have dog-friendly grass areas where your kids can run too.
